May is one of the most beautiful times of year for family photos in Westchester and Yonkers. The trees are blooming, the light feels soft and golden, and everything starts to feel alive again after winter.

It’s also one of my favorite seasons for sessions because the weather is comfortable, the colors are natural and timeless, and outdoor locations feel especially peaceful this time of year.

Whether it’s young children running through open fields, quiet moments between parents and their babies, or simply documenting your family as you are right now, spring creates the perfect backdrop without needing anything overly styled or complicated.

One thing I always tell families is that your session doesn’t need to feel “perfect” to create beautiful images. My approach is focused on natural connection and gentle direction so everything feels easy and comfortable throughout the session. The best photos usually come from the in-between moments — the laughter, movement, and small interactions that happen naturally.

Some of my favorite spring locations around Westchester include:

• Untermyer Gardens for a more elegant and timeless look

• Lenoir Preserve for a softer, nature-focused feel

• Glen Island Park for open space and beautiful light near the water

Cherry blossom season in particular is especially beautiful during late April and early May and creates a soft, romantic feel that photographs beautifully.

If you’ve been thinking about updating your family photos, spring is honestly one of the easiest and most beautiful times to do it.

Sessions are available in studio, outdoors, or in-home throughout Yonkers and Westchester.
